You Don’t Hear Much About Angels Anymore.
You don’t hear much about Angels anymore.
Okay maybe we do. We like someone and we call them an angel. Someone does something we like. We call them an angel too. These angels are all about us and getting what we want. I love to get what I want!
Angels portrayed in the Christian story are different. These Angels direct us to what we need but would miss if not pointed out to us. Even the Christmas story would be unknown if Angels hadn’t pointed us (and the entire universe) toward the Christmas story.
Real Angels are like that. They make sure we don’t miss the obvious. The Christmas story is about the obvious that we frequently stumble over in life and even ignore.
What is ‘the obvious’ you ask? How about being thankful for those who encourage us and give us hope and confidence so we move onto better perspectives on life? How about those who broaden our vision? How about the people who encourage us to aspire for greater things, to love each other, find love in service? How about being thankful for life and the company we keep, or should keep or could keep? How about being thankful for those who help us find peace and meaning in life?
Can you add more obvious things to this list? I bet you can! The Christmas story does.
There are always a million things wrong with this life. There always will be. Focus on what is wrong and we get more of what is wrong. Angels come from on high and help us focus on what is right so we may get more of what is right with life. Not getting that ‘right’ feeling? Mmmmmmh. I wonder what that means?
One popular Christmas song has this focus. The song goes ‘Angels we have heard on high singing sweetly….’ and so on.
We all need to hear voices singing sweetly about life. Perhaps you can be that Angel singing sweetly to someone who needs to focus on the richness of life? I need to focus on the blessings of life. I need to hear the Angels singing. We all need to hear the Angels singing.
Thank you for being an Angel this year……..
