Every Morning Is The Same.

I am joined by thousands of other drivers on a parking lot called the ‘freeway’. We sit and wait and crawl. We become each others obstacle between our point of departure and our destination. If everyone else would just get out of my way I could be where I want to be…..

The Radio turns my thoughts to the US Congress. It mirrors my ‘freeway’ experience. I pine to be free of the parking lot paralysis. I am informed Congress intentionally creates paralysis. Does this make any sense? I want freedom from paralysis so I can be about what I need to be about. Congress on the other hand, creates a situation so they cannot be about what they need to be about. My daily freeway parking lot experience underlines my hunger for resolution of paralysis. I do not want to experience more of the same.

In a republic and a democracy people are granted power and authority to use for the benefit of the people. People of principle with power and authority don’t create obstacles. They resolve them.

People of principle discovered thousands of years ago that building and affirming human relationships melts confrontation. Positive human relationships open the way to partnership and collaboration.

Praise someone for their work, activity, contribution and they will affirm you. Praise releases energy inside us that makes us want to befriend the Praise-giver. Thank someone by name, generously, sincerely and they will do likewise and affirm you. They will want to be your friend. Now we can talk, in spite of differences.

The scriptures say this too in a billion different ways. ‘Praise God from whom all blessings flow’ is another way of reminding us that praise has the same result at all levels of life and existence. ‘Praise God’ and look out, the blessings energy will flow!! Praise me. Praise you and we release blessings energy upon each other!

Pray that each generation will integrate this truth in self understanding. Praise and Thanksgiving opens the floodgates to healthy relationships and forms community. This is ancient truth. Goodbye parking lot paralysis!
